About Kyle Schwartz Teaches

About

In her first year of teaching, Kyle asked her students a beautifully simple question-- What do you wish your teacher knew?

In her first year of teaching, Kyle asked her students a beautifully simple question-- What do you wish your teacher knew?

Some years later she shared the lesson on social media. Her students' candid responses inspired the #IWishMyTeacherKnew movement. Her students were able to share their stories on every major media outlet in the country which sparked a conversation about the realities American students face and how schools can be more supportive.

Her first book, I Wish My Teacher Knew: How One Question Can Change Everything for Our Kids focuses on realities that students face and how educators can respond to their students’ needs by building relationships. Her second book, I Wish For Change: Unleashing the Power of Kids to Make a Difference is a guide for educators, families, and mentors to help young people find a personal sense of power and use their passions to better their communities.

In addition to teaching and writing, Kyle is a dedicated advocate for students. Her keynote speeches and workshops have been presented both nationally and internationally, at both individual schools and national conferences, and for both teachers-in-training and members of congress.
